The Fall Banquet will be held at the Soldiers Field restaurant this Friday October 28th. Social hour at 5:30 and the meeting at 6:30. Food and drink tickets will be provided as well as a chance to win a 2017 Northern Hills mens club membership and possibly a putting contest.
On a side note, for those of you that are playing in multiple mens clubs, the MGA offers a $13 rebate for any extra clubs you join. Here is a link to that rebate: https://www.mngolf.org/rebate
October Update

Our final monthly event of the season, mystery tees, is coming up Sunday October 23. The tee time has been pushed back to 10am for the event to hopefully avoid any frost delays. This event is a team scramble played with non standard tee locations. Please register with the pro shop by Thursday night October 20th.
The deadline to spend any chits is October 31st.
Information on the fall banquet will be sent out next week.
One Man Best Shot Reminder

September Update

Our September event, the One Man Best Shot, will have a 9am shotgun start on Sunday September 25th. This will be an individual, flighted event and the deadline to register is Thursday night September 22. One change to the event is that you will only get one tee shot. After your tee shot you will have the opportunity to hit a second ball and choose which spot you want to continue playing from. This will also be a meal event with brisket, beans and mashed potatoes to follow.
A couple deadlines coming up:
Any special orders at the pro shop need to be placed by September 25th.
Last day for 19-Man shootout qualification is October 6th.
The last day to get the early bird rates for 2017 city course memberships is October 15th.
Any chits need to be spent by October 31st... They do not transfer to the following year.

Club Championship reminder

This weekend we will have our club championship. This is a two day event with low handicap flights going out early on Saturday and high handicap flights going out early on Sunday. The first tee times will be around 7:30am each day. A listing of the tee times will be available at the clubhouse and posted on the website the day before each round. Skins will $10 and both rounds will be combined for that.
The deadline for registration is Thursday night.

Calcutta Reminder

Just a reminder that we have the Calcutta Auction coming up this Friday at Northern 19 with a social hour starting at 5:30 and the auction starting at 6:30.
The Calcutta itself will be a 9am shotgun start on Sunday. You can pick your partner for this event but the deadline to register is Thursday night. You have until the start of the event to buy back your team. There will be board members there to help direct you to the owners of your team.
Also unique for this event is that any tiebreakers for the top 3 spots will be settled by a playoff. If you are tied in the top three you must be ready 15 minutes after all the teams have come in to go back out and play for the tiebreaker. If a team is not present then they will forfeit.
Northern 19 will be open early Sunday morning with a special on a breakfast sandwich.
July Update

Our event this month is the Calcutta on Sunday July 24th with a 9am shotgun start. There will also be an auction held on Friday July 22 at Northern 19 with a social hour at 5:30 and the auction starting at 6:30. Drink tickets and snacks will be provided. At the auction you can bid to win the rights to any of the teams in the event. Each team has until the start of the event Sunday morning to buy back up to half of what their team was auctioned for. The owners of the teams that finish in the top three in each division will win cash from the pot of all the money spent at the auction.
This is the only event where you can choose your own partner. We will be using 80% of your July 15 handicap index to calculate course handicaps for this event. Each team member plays their own ball and the lowest net score for the team is recorded.
The deadline for registration is Thursday night. If you have any questions about the event feel free to talk to the pro shop or any of the board members.
Also, please keep in mind that you need to enter your own scores in the computer when you play the weekly event! The pro shop will only enter scores for you in the club championship.
June Update

Our second event, the 2-Man Combo, is coming up on Sunday June 26 with a 9am shotgun start. You will be paired up with another member for 9 holes best ball and 9 holes best shot with a meal of smoked pork, baked beans and cole slaw to follow. Deadline for registration is Thursday night June 23rd. The restaurant will be open at 7:30am for the event if you want to get some breakfast.
Matchplay and four ball competitions have started. I will get the matchplay brackets posted to the website later today. I don't currently have things set up for posting four ball but I hope to get get that set up in the coming weeks. The suggested deadline for the first round is July 15th.
19 man and 10 man shootout qualifying will begin July 1st and cost $3 per attempt. You must let the clubhouse know if you are going for gross or net (or pay $6 if you are doing both on the same round).
Looking ahead to the calcutta in July... To qualify to play in the calcutta you must have AT LEAST 5 complete rounds entered in the handicap system by July 15th. These can be combined 9 hole rounds or 18 hole rounds. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask a board member or the guys in the pro shop.
May Update

Our first event is coming up on Sunday May 22nd with a 9am shotgun start. The Red, White and Blue consists of teams of 3 with a team member teeing off from each of the tee boxes (lowest handicap player from the blue tees, etc.) in a best shot format. Played with all teams in a single division and bonuses for team skins (if you buy in) and closest to the pin.
The deadline for registration is Thursday night May 19th. All registration is done through the pro shop.
There will be breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts available for purchase from the restaurant. They will also have a lunch special available for purchase (pulled pork/coleslaw/chips).
Matchplay and four ball will start June 1 with a deadline of registration.
Weekly events will be starting next Wednesday May 18th.

If we have your email address on record you should receive emails in March/April that will direct you to a specific link where you can check the info you have provided to us and make any corrections. Please note that the link you receive is specific to YOU. Someone else can not use it to register.
For new members, members who did not participate in the prior year or members who are not on our email list:
You can register at our Ice Breaker on Friday April 8th (social hour 5:30, meeting 6:30 at Soldiers Field GC restaurant) or at the Pro Shop at Northern Hills GC. People who have been a member in past years most likely still have their information on file that they can verify.
If you are a new member we provide registration sheets at the Ice Breaker and Pro Shop for you to fill out. You can also click on the registration form on the website (we currently do not have online registration for new members) and fill it out, print it and bring it to the Pro Shop (or Ice Breaker).
Also for new members, it would be helpful to read our FAQ.
Please remember that your membership dues must be paid prior to the first monthly event on May 22.
