Mystery Tees Correction
Wednesday October 15, 2014 @ 11:25 amBy Josh Worisek
The previous post incorrectly said a 10am start this Sunday.
We will actually be doing a 9am shotgun start on Sunday for Mystery Tees. Sorry for any confusion.
November Update
Tuesday October 14, 2014 @ 7:57 pmBy Josh Worisek
First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey that we sent out!
Our final event Mystery Tees is coming up this Sunday with a 10am shotgun start. Be sure to register by dusk on Thursday.
Saturday is the Dirty Dozen... If you qualified you should have already been contacted by the clubhouse with the information.
The Fall Banquet will be on Friday Oct 24 at the Canadian Honker Events at the Ramada (The Ramada is by 16th St SW and Salem Rd SW and highway 52). The entrance is on the south side of the building, just west of the main entrance. There will be a social hour starting at 5:30pm and the auction starting at 6:00pm. Mens Club members will get two drink tickets and their will be some food available.
Don't forget that all clubhouse chits will be expiring October 31st!
September Update
Wednesday September 24, 2014 @ 12:30 pmBy Josh Worisek
Our next monthly event is the Lone Loon coming up this Sunday Sept 28th with a 9am shotgun start. It is played with 4 man teams having a pre-selected player each hole (the loon) playing their own ball (with strokes) while the other 3 players play the hole as a scramble. The two scores are then combined for the overall team score. Deadline for registration is Thursday night. I believe there will be food provided after this event as well.
Please check the website or pro shop to see if you have any clubhouse chits from this season. They will EXPIRE ON OCTOBER 31st! So please stop in and spend them before then.
The weekly events have ended for the season so the Dirty Dozen has been finalized (top 12 weekly event money winners). The pro shop will be contacting members to fill out this event. Even if you are not in the top 12, you may still qualify if people in the top 12 can't make it.
If you are playing the Duel at the Jewel this Friday, be sure to stop out at the Northern Hills pro shop to pick up your team shirt!
19 man shootout qualifying is open until Thursday October 9th.
Matchplay / Four ball matches must be complete by October 31st! Most of the main brackets are complete or close to it. If you lost your 1st match you are still in the consolation bracket (posted under matchplay on the website and kept behind the counter at the pro shop)! If you have no desire to play in the consolation bracket, let the pro shop know so that we can get those worked out. There is still a $10 prize for winning consolation brackets
Matchplay
Wednesday September 10, 2014 @ 8:12 pmBy Josh Worisek
Just a reminder for anyone doing matchplay... there are consolation brackets if you lost in your first match and I do have the brackets posted on the website now. I'll be keeping that up to date from now on (and I should have the 4 Ball brackets up soon). There is still some money involved in winning the consolation brackets. If the matches aren't played, they will be determined by a coin toss.

July Update
Wednesday July 16, 2014 @ 9:10 amBy Josh Worisek
We have the Calcutta Auction coming up this Friday and the Calcutta on Sunday. The Calcutta is a two man net best ball tournament typically split into two divisions with a shotgun start. You have until the tourney starts to buy back up to half your team (the amount will depend on how much your team went for in the auction the previous Friday). You must buy back your team to have a shot at winning any money from the auction.
You can select your own partner for the Calcutta! If you do not have a partner you can still register with the Pro Shop and they can find you a partner. If you do not have many scores recorded to get a handicap you may need to contact the Pro Shop to see if you are eligible.
YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY THURSDAY NIGHT!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
The auction will take place Friday night at the Canadian Honker Events at the Ramada (The Ramada is by 16th St SW and Salem Rd SW and highway 52). The entrance is on the south side of the building, just west of the main entrance. There will be 2 drink tickets provided for beer and rail drinks as well as light appetizers. The room will be open at 5:30pm with the auction starting around 6pm.
There will be a 9am shotgun start on Sunday. July 15th handicaps will be used and max handicap is 36. Payout is Win-Place-Show (ties will be broken via extra holes playoff).
Unlike other events, the Calcutta will have ties decided by an actual playoff (other events use a scorecard playoff). All teams that are subject to playoffs must be ready at the tee box no later than 15 minutes after the final scores are in. Teams that are not present within 15 minutes will be considered to have forfeited.
Also, please remember to try to get your matchplay and 4-ball matches taken care of in a timely manner.
June Update
Wednesday June 18, 2014 @ 10:02 amBy Josh Worisek

Matchplay and 4-ball have begun... please try to get your matches played in a reasonable amount of time. If you need contact information for who your are scheduled to play, the clubhouse can help you out.
Qualifying for the 19-man shootout will begin July 1st. You'll need to pay your fee before your round and turn in your card afterwards.
Reminder for new members... If you are planning on playing in our July event, the Calcutta, we need you to have AT LEAST FIVE 18 hole rounds (can be combined 9 hole rounds... more would be better) entered for your handicap by July 14.

Soldiers Field Open House
Monday March 10, 2014 @ 8:27 pmBy Josh Worisek
March 6, 2014
Dear Northern Hills GC Men's Club Member:
An Open House will be held at the clubhouse of Soldiers Field Golf Course on Thursday, March 13th from 4:00 - 7:00. The purpose of the Open House is to present concepts regarding the future of Soldiers Field park. Several of the concepts significantly change the golf course at Soldiers Field, including eliminating the golf course completely.
As the Soldiers Field Men's Club Chairman, I would like to encourage you to attend the Open House, if possible. Your thoughts, along with the thoughts of many in the Rochester golf community, may well affect the future of golf at Soldiers Field park.
Best Regards,
Rodney Dretsch
Soldiers Field GC
Men's Club Chairman
