September Update
Wednesday September 16, 2015 @ 2:09 pmBy Josh Worisek
First off, congratulations to our Northern Hills team for beating Eastwood in the Duel at the Jewel this year!
Our September event, the Lone Loon, is coming up on Sunday September 27th with a 9am shotgun start. The event has 4 man teams with a rotating "loon" who plays their own ball (with strokes) while the other 3 team members play a scramble and add the scores together to get the team score for each hole.
Deadline for registration is Thursday night September 24th.
This event will include a meal to follow of pulled pork sandwiches + sides.
Reminders:
Chits expire as of October 31st so don't forget to spend yours at the pro shop!
19-man and 10-man shootout qualifying is still going on. Decent numbers for the 19-man so far but the 10-man hasn't had a lot of action. At the moment ANY score could get you into that competition. You can play in both shootouts if you qualify for both... the 10-man will be following the completion of the 19-man.
City course memberships/patron passes for 2016 are on sale through September 30th. Prices will be going up 5% this fall and 5% next spring.

August Update
Tuesday August 11, 2015 @ 9:35 pmBy Josh Worisek
This month is our club champoinship... our only two day event. You will be flighted by handicap with the lower handicaps playing early on Saturday and the higher handicaps playing early on Sunday. Tee times for Saturday will be available at the pro shop Friday afternoon and on the website (a message will be sent out when they get posted). You should be able to get a good idea of your Sunday tee time after you complete your Saturday round but we will also be posting those tee times Saturday night.
Skins will be $10 (paid Saturday) and will cover both days. Both days will be combined for determining skins (a birdie on Sunday would cancel out a birdie on the same hole that was on Saturday).
The club championship is Saturday August 22nd and Sunday August 23rd.
The deadline for registration is Thursday night August 20th.
4-ball and matchplay brackets are going along at a pretty good pace. The consolation brackets from matchplay are starting to catch up also. Remember those are not posted on the wall at the pro shop... You can check them online or ask the person at the pro shop to pull them from behind the counter.
19-man and 10-man qualifying is still open. The 10-man shootout qualifying is pretty empty so far so any score at the moment can give you a chance to make it!
Duel at the Jewel
Thursday August 6, 2015 @ 10:19 amBy Josh Worisek
Registration is open for the Duel at the Jewel on Friday Sept. 11th at 9am. Cost is $55 and is limited to the first 16 players.
If you are interested in playing contact the pro shop.
July Update
Tuesday July 14, 2015 @ 9:38 pmBy Josh Worisek
Our next monthly event, the Calcutta, is coming up on Sunday July 26 at 9am. The Calcutta is a unique event in that you get to pick your own partner (If you would like to play but don't have a partner, let the clubhouse know and they will pair you up with someone).
The restaurant will be open around 8am for breakfast
On the Friday before (July 24th) we will be having the Calcutta Auction at the Elks (behind the bar) with a social hour starting at 5:30 and the auction at 6:30. You will get two drink tickets and snacks will be provided at the auction. If you are unfamiliar with this event, at the auction people bid on the teams with the highest bidder buying the rights to that team (each team than has the chance to buy back at least half their team up until the time the Calcutta tees off). If a team that you buy comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd then you win a portion of the pot from all the money bid on teams.
YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 5 FULL ROUNDS IN THE SYSTEM TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THE CALCUTTA. The deadline for getting in enough rounds to qualify is Thursday July 23rd. If you have any questions, contact the pro shop.
The registration deadline is Thursday night July 23rd. No exceptions since the pro shop needs to get everything organized in time for the auction on Friday!
Also, if you are planning riding for the Calcutta please reserve a cart when you register. People who reserve a cart ahead of time get priority for a cart with on the Sunday events.
If you ever sign up for a monthly event but are not able to make it on Sunday, please call the pro shop if possible so they can try to make adjustments to the event.
Matchplay and 4-ball are going along nicely. The consolation brackets will be posted online Wednesday. 4-ball brackets are not online but I am hoping to get those up in the next few weeks.
19-man (net scoring) and 10-man (gross scoring) shootout qualifying is now open. You must pay $3 prior to your round and be sure to let the pro shop know which one you are trying to qualify for (you can pay $6 to try to qualify for both)
June Update
Tuesday June 16, 2015 @ 10:04 pmBy Josh Worisek
Our second event, the 2-Man Combo is coming up on Sunday June 28th. This event has 2 man teams with 6 holes best ball, 6 holes best shot and 6 holes alternate shot with a 9am shotgun start. There will be a meal of sloppy joes, chips and potato salad to follow. Deadline for registration is Thursday night June 25th. Contact the pro shop to get registered.
A reminder for weekly events... In order to be in the competition you need to turn in your card after the round and have the full name and local number for all players that entered the weekly event.
The matchplay and 4-ball brackets have been posted in the pro shop. We will have them up on the website later this week. The deadline for playing your first round matches is the end of June. If you are in Matchplay and lose your first match, you will be placed in a consolation bracket. This bracket will not be posted at the pro shop (it will be kept behind the desk) but it will be up on the website.
Also, if you are doing matchplay or 4-ball, please check in at the pro shop to make sure your contact info is up to date.
We are trying something new this year for the 19 man shootout. We will be doing our normal $3 attempt to qualify with the 19 lowest net scores. There will also be a 10 man shootout this year that will be determined by the best gross scores (also $3 each time you try to qualify). You must let the pro shop know before your round which one you are trying to qualify for or you can pay $6 and use that round to try to qualify for both. The 10 man shootout will follow the 19 man shootout on October 10th. Qualifying will open up on July 1st.
May Update
Tuesday May 12, 2015 @ 9:06 pmBy Josh Worisek
Our first event, the Red White and Blue, is coming up in two weeks on Sunday May 24th. This is a 3-man scramble with the A player teeing off from the back tees, the B player from the middle tees and the C player from the front tees. The event will be a 9am shotgun start.
Deadline to register is Thursday night May 21st. Stop in or call the clubhouse to get registered.
Weekly events will be starting this week.
To play in the monthly or weekly events you must have paid your membership dues! You can check the website: Club Members to verify that you are registered and that we have received your payment. That list is up to date as of Monday May 11. Anyone who has not paid yet also has their handicap deactivated.
Sign up is still available for the matchplay and four ball brackets. Cost is $10 per player. Play in both competitions will be starting June 1st and you will have to the end of the month each round to complete your match each round. Keep in mind that if you lose in the first round you will be placed in a consolation bracket (for matchplay at least).
Ice Breaker reminder
Sunday April 5, 2015 @ 8:53 pmBy Josh Worisek
Just a reminder that we will be having the Ice Breaker this Friday at the Elks with a happy hour starting at 5:30 and the meeting at 6:30. Appetizers and 2 drink tickets will be provided. If you are registered and have paid for your mens club membership you will be placed in a drawing at the end of the meeting for a free mens club membership.
